Though it’s easier to just be
focused on your own backyard, God
asked
His people to get on their tiptoes, look around the world,
and see
where they can serve people who are typically ignored.
At Forefront we have done this through serving the poorest of
the
poor in Haiti, making repeated trips to New Orleans to assist
in
the
rebuilding efforts there, and by volunteering in homeless
shelters in Atlanta, Indianapolis, and Los Angeles. However,
our
primary
focus has been Mien people. In 2001 we made a
commitment to serve the Mien however possible. The Mien are a
mountainous people who live primarily in China, Vietnam, and
Laos.
They
are one of the poorest and most over-looked people groups
in the
world. Since 2001 God has opened doors and given us
amazing
opportunities to serve the Mien in Laos and in Vietnam.
With
God’s help, we truly are getting to play a part in turning the
world
upside down. |
